Welcome to Wrigley Ramblings
Wrigley Ramblings is a blog dedicated to the 2010 Chicago Cubs, the team that will hopefully finally end the drought!
My plan is to follow the 2010 series, hopefully all the way to a Cubs World Series win! I will be expressing my thoughts on the players and the games and hope that my readers will feel free to share their thoughts through comments on the blog.

Why the Cubs?
I have been a Cubs fan since I was a kid, since the days of Harry Carey, Mark Grace, Ryne Sandberg, Greg Maddux (the first time) and Andre "The Hawk" Dawson. Those guys were the giants of my childhood.
Growing up in the Mississippi Delta, where the closest professional baseball teams were hours away in St. Louis and Atlanta, I relied on TV to feed my addiction to baseball. At the time, the only two teams that played often enough on national TV were the Cubs on WGN out of Chicago and the Atlanta Braves on TBS. Most of my friends were Braves fans, so I had to be different and root for the Cubs. Ryne Sandberg quickly became my favorite player, followed closely by Mark Grace.
Since those early days, I have avidly watched every season and followed every offseason. I watched with awe the homerun race as Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire seemed larger than life. It saddened me greatly to learn that it was all due to steroids and corked bats.
Like all Cubs fans, I can still picture the foul ball that could have brought us only four outs away from the World Series, only to watch the Marlins rebound and take the series. But then I got to watch Derrek Lee's amazing season the next year, after we got him away from those same Marlins.
Then came sweet Lou and, as always, hope springs eternal. Lets hope that this year is indeed finally THE year!
